It is an uncertain period for freelancers. Some get less work assignments. Worst case they have no work at all. What can you do to minimize the financial consequences and stay tuned?
In a lot of industries work is shut down. Restaurants shut their doors, offices are closed. No one knows what the future will bring us.
Freelancers are vulnerable
That makes this period an uncertain time. We have to deal with it. That is not easy for everyone. Freelancers are anxious and the most vulnerable group. Their laptop bag ( translated to dutch: laptoptas ) stays closed and that is not what they want.
We have to accept that. It is not easy to change this situation. What can you do to be less vulnerable and get something positive out of this period?
Make a social media plan
Start working on your personal development. Follow an online training, write your own stories or even a book, start working on your physical health. Take the chance to make a social media plan for your company.
Most freelancers write a message on their Instagram page or Facebook now and then. There is not a constructive social media plan. Now is the time to focus on that. Make sure you take your smartphone with you every time you go out. Put it in your Fanny pack. Take pictures, make your social media page personal. People love that and it keeps you visible for clients and other people.
Create personal content
Even when you go out for a hike with your Rains backpack, make nice pictures so that you can use these for your own content. With a good story and a link to your platform or website you stay in business.
Maybe it will not bring you financial success immediately. This is a investment for the future that will be here soon.
