We’ve all seen people open business in their local area. But what if you wanted to take it a step further and open one in a different country? If you’re looking to start your business in the EU, there are a few things you need to know first. Here’s what you need to know about opening a business in the EU.

    Learn What You Need

Nobody can open a business without having the proper knowledge. While it’s technically possible, people who don’t know what they’re doing often fail. Having the right knowledge and skill set before you open up shop is going to give a massive edge. You can learn everything you need by attending college and acquiring your BA in business administration or finances. It’s recommended you choose to major in one and get a minor in the other, so you have the best of both worlds.

What’s more is that you can easily finance your education by taking out a student loan. Student loans are used for more than covering tuition costs. You can also use it to fund anything that’s related to your academic needs. This includes textbooks, school supplies and any equipment you might need for your courses. If you’re attending college online, you can also use it for a new computer.

    Choose a Location

The EU is filled with plenty of exotic locations for you to open your new business. That said, you might be a little stuck on where you should situate it at. Here’s a small list of some of the best areas to open a business in the EU:

    • Germany
    • Sweden
    • Italy
    • United Kingdom
    • Ireland
    • Norway
    • The Netherlands

Out of what’s listed here, Italy is one of the best locations to choose. It’s often considered to be the ideal vacation spot for tourists, but it’s also a great place to open your startup. This is because its startup culture has become a lot more innovative than it was in the past. In fact, some of the most prominent startups saw their first bit of success in Italy.

    Apply for a Business Visa

After you’ve settled on a location, the next step is to apply for a business visa. A business or commercial visa is a form of documentation that allows foreign travelers to enter a different country for business purposes. To apply, you must first provide a photo of yourself and anyone coming with you. These include your immediate family. Then, you have to fill out the entire DS160 visa application form then pay the fee. The cost is usually $160, so it’s not too pricey. But bear in mind you have to pay before you’re able to get an interview.

Make Your Business a Societas Europaea, SE

Societas Europaea, SE is basically the EU’s version of a limited liability company (LLC). It’s one of its business structures and is the most recommended for newer owners. Do your research and beware of EU business registrar scams though. Additionally, the rules and regulations vary from country to country. You’ll need to extensively review the rules before anything else. You don’t want to accidentally run into any legal trouble.
