The UK bingo market is growing at a steady pace, with the pandemic failing to put a dent in this upward trajectory. Players who made the transition from land-based bingo parlors to online gambling operators are showing no signs of going back. In fact, many new players chose to give online bingo a try in spite of its ignoring the traditional gaming environment.

Smartphones are now used more often to play bingo than computers and they are one of the main catalysts for growth. All these elements together have led to a surge for the bingo industry, which is now worth an estimated £910 million per year.

The UK bingo market is thriving

The United Kingdom has been for decades the biggest online gambling market in the EU (European union) ? And it continues to see exponential growth with the help of huge adverting budgets from online bingo and casino operators listed here on this websiteBingoSites.co.uk who offer a wide array of games, discount codes and other promotional material for its thousands of daily visitors. Now that the numbers are out for the period starting on April 2019 and concluding on May 2020, they don’t fail to impress. The combined amount of the GGY for this year consists of £910 million, with live bingo representing nearly 70% of the amount. This means that traditional bingo parlors continue to dominate the industry but their online counterparts are quickly closing the gap.

The pandemic and the social distancing rules have acted as strong catalysts for the online gaming industry. As players were instructed to keep their distance and stay apart, they chose alternative forms of entertainment. Regarding online bingo, it is a popular pastime that is perfect for casual punters who don’t feel comfortable betting larger amounts. The fact that the industry is inching closer to £1 billion in spite of the low ticket prices is even more impressive.

Compared to previous years, the amounts wagered online increased by only 1%. It’s particularly interesting to see how these numbers say part later this year, when the numbers for most of 2020 and the first half of 2021 become available. It is likely that the contribution of online bingo to the grand total will increase spectacularly, because of the international context. During this period of time most players chose to stay at home and socialize through online apps, including popular bingo applications.

A bright future for UK online bingo

Recent numbers are particularly encouraging for bingo fans and the projections for the future are just as encouraging. Online bingo is regarded by many as a fan pastime with minimal risks and there are plenty of gamers who prefer free money games. Not only dedicated online bingo parlors, but also classic Internet casinos now offer the game in many flavors. 75 and 90 ball bingo games are the most popular, yet players are always willing to try exotic variance.

For the time being, smartphones and tablets represent the most popular devices for enjoying bingo over the Internet. As virtual reality becomes mainstream at online bingo rooms will offer their games in this format. It is expected that as soon as VR technology kicks in, players will be excited to try bingo in the new format. This will only push the UK bingo market into overdrive in the years to come.
