    More than forty companies and other organisations joined the European Alliance for Apprenticeships this week, committing to making available around 140,000 apprenticeships and training opportunities for young people.

    Apprenticeships are part of the toolkit to tackle the challenge of more than 6 million jobless young people in the EU. Businesses often struggle to find employees with the right skills and there is a need to shorten the gap between skills provided and skills needed. Hopefully more companies and other organisations will follow this example and become involved in this valuable initiative.
