    The EU’s renewed impetus post-Brexit/Trump continues with two initiatives in tune with public needs and concerns. First, 20 Member States agreed Thursday on the establishment of a European Public Prosecutor’s Office, whose main remit will be to investigate and prosecute EU-fraud and other crimes affecting the Union’s financial interests.

    And with 68 per cent of Europeans wanting the EU to do more on security and defence policy, the Commission has outlined options for the future of EU defence, including contributing to the fight against terrorism. “Defence is going to be one of the major fields in which we could relaunch the European Union,” says foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.
