Graduates with international experience fare much better on the jobs market, according to a study on the impact of the EU’s Erasmus student exchange programme, which has now been going since 1987. The study shows that studying and training abroad makes a real difference to employment prospects.

It does no harm to other prospects either, apparently. The scheme has led to the birth of one million babies since its launch, with 27 per cent of people who took part meeting their current life partner during their stay abroad. So it really can change your life.
