    Britain’s PM came in for a bit of an EU bashing this week.

    First Angela Merkel said she would rather see the UK leave the Union than compromise over free movement. Then UCL researchers found that EU migrants, far from being a drain on finances, paid GBP 20bn into UK coffers. Finally new EC president Juncker used his first press conference to attack Mr Cameron’s attitude towards the EU and its leaders.

    Mr Juncker’s arrival seems to herald a stronger, more political Commission. It looks also as if Europeans leaders may finally have lost patience with the UK’s EU-bashing.
