    Commission allocates additional €10 million to support researchers from Ukraine under Horizon Europe

    The Commission has topped up the budget of the MSCA4Ukraine initiative, set up to support researchers forced to flee Ukraine, with an additional €10 million. The scheme, set up under Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) has supported displaced researchers since the start of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.


    New EU funding for innovative ideas to reduce long-term unemployment and help people find jobs

    The Commission has launched a call for proposals worth €23 million to help EU Member States develop new ways of tackling long-term unemployment and support people to find their way back into the labour market.


    Commission proposes to open negotiations to facilitate youth mobility between the EU and the UK

    The Commission has today proposed to the Council to open negotiations with the United Kingdom on an agreement to facilitate youth mobility. Such an agreement would make it easier for young EU and UK citizens to study, work and live in the UK and the EU respectively.


    Commission mobilises research and innovation funding for the green and digital transitions

    The Commission has adopted an amendment to the 2023-24 Work Programme of Horizon Europe, the EU’s research and innovation programme.


    Commission offers 35,500 DiscoverEU free travel passes to young people

    Starting this summer, thousands of young people will once again travel around Europe by train for free thanks to the latest call of the DiscoverEU programme.

    EU requests consultations under Trade and Cooperation Agreement over UK’s permanent closure of the sandeel fishery

    The European Union has requested consultations with the United Kingdom under the dispute settlement mechanism of the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) regarding the United Kingdom’s decision to prohibit the fishing of sandeel, with the aim of reaching a mutually agreeable solution.


    EU announces €3.5 billion worth of commitments to protect the ocean and promote sustainability at Our Ocean Conference in Greece

    Today, at the Our Ocean Conference in Greece, the European Union is confirming its strong engagement for international ocean governance by announcing 40 commitments for action for 2024. These actions will be funded by €3.5 billion from various EU funds.


    Commission welcomes European Citizens’ Panel recommendations on energy efficiency

    150 European citizens adopted 13 recommendations for the European Commission on energy efficiency during the final session of the European Citizens’ Panel on Energy Efficiency, which took place from 12 to 14 April in Brussels.


    Commission endorses Ukraine Plan, paving the way for regular payments under the Ukraine Facility

    The Commission has adopted a proposal for a Council Implementing Decision that assesses positively the Ukraine Plan, Ukraine’s comprehensive reform and investment strategy for the next four years.
