Four office activities used to stimulate innovation

Innovation at work can take place in different ways. Examples include streamlining a process, proposing new ideas during meetings or solving common business problems from a different angle. However, innovation is not in everyone’s DNA.

Some find it difficult to think outside the box, but that doesn’t mean they can’t. They may need a little push to get inspired. There are many ways to foster a culture of innovation, from fun children’s games to activities that encourage creativity. With these four useful activities, you can create a collaborative work environment that sparks creative ideas.

    Yoga

It’s hard to come up with new ideas when you’re burned out, stressed, or tired. Yoga is the perfect remedy. The light exercises give the body and mind new energy. And it’s easy to do in almost any environment. All you need is a floor, a yoga instructor (or just a DVD) and mats. And of course motivated participants are needed! You can encourage more people to participate by also teaching a beginner class. Dim the lights and concentrate for 15-30 minutes. After that, everyone will be more focused.

    Game room

For employees at LEGO? UK headquarters who want a short break, there are always toys nearby. There are LEGO? bricks all over the office to play with, keeping the mind and hands active. Bring this idea into your own office by turning a quiet corner or unused space into a break room that encourages play. Choose a variety of games that can be played one-on-one or in small groups. A jigsaw puzzle is an ideal addition, as you can complete it silently and easily start and stop at any time. You can even play Bingo together, which is also possible on the internet via Bingo online spelen.

    Office competition

Once a quarter, alternate the daily routine with a friendly competition. Bring employees from different departments together to compete, collaborate and be creative. Organize an office quiz where the office workers can get to know each other better. Have each employee share five fun facts about themselves and turn them into questions. However, you could also create a gamble competition with the help of Betsquare.com. Or what about a cooking competition? People like to show off their cooking skills. You can turn this into a competition. Organize a meal where employees bring their own food to share and pick winners for the best dishes.

    Cultural trip

If you want to experience a different environment and gain new impressions, plan a cultural trip with your team. Go to an art museum, concert or theater performance. Ask employees what they like first, then find a cultural outing that best suits their interests. You want to encourage people to get out of their comfort zone, but a situation that deviates too much from what people are used to or find pleasant may not be effective. Then you will meet again to share your thoughts and impressions about the experience. Ask a few questions to get the conversation started, which will hopefully lead to innovation.
