That being said, being self-employed is not just like one big holiday, and there are difficulties that come with it, such as not having paid sick days and having to manage finances far more meticulously than those who are in full-time employment and know what payment they will be receiving each month ? and after-tax.

Finance can be a bit of a minefield when you are self-employed, which is why we have put these tips together for you to help you get the best out of your money.

Understand What Expenses You Can Claim

When you are self-employed, it is important to understand what expenses you are able to claim, as you will be paying out of your own pocket for a bunch of things that will go towards the running of your business.

Keep a record of all receipts and transactions on what you are able to claim through the whole tax year to make sure you do not miss anything.

If you want to make this process easier for yourself, then invest in an app that can help you keep everything in one place.

    Plan Ahead for Travel

As things slowly get back to normal, we find ourselves starting to book public transport again to get to various meetings and embrace new opportunities. That being said, public transport can get expensive, especially when it is not planned in advance and you have to book something last minute. If you want to buy your own vehicle, it can be a real pain when your self-employed to get the finance to support it, which is something that needs to change. That being said, there are ways you can get self employed car finance to help you purchase your own vehicle, which you can then work into your budget. It could end up much cheaper if you travel a lot for work!

    Find the Best Deals

You might be extremely happy with your internet and mobile provider, and your gas and electricity at home have never been lower. This probably means you are keeping on top of the best deals that are available for you every couple of months. Deals and prices seem to change at the speed of light, and we are often paying more money for a service than we need to, purely because we have not shopped around recently, and the convenience of just staying with one company feels like it outweighs the benefits.

Do you and your bank balance a favour, and keep on top of what can be offered to you and also the promotional extras you are offered!
