OSI Group is a premier global provider of quality foods. As one of the largest privately held food companies, it partners with many of the world’s leading foodservice and retail food brands to provide solutions from concept to table.

    OSI processing capabilities

Customers from all over the world rely on OSI’s capabilities in sourcing, producing and distributing customized food solutions. OSI has an extensive infrastructure, while still maintaining the agility and passion of an entrepreneurial organization, allowing the company to deliver a can-do attitude when collaborating with customers. Clients of all sizes can turn to OSI for delivering the latest food solutions in an innovative manner.

OSI serves its customers by putting people first and seeking partnering relationships with both its customers and suppliers. It strives to act with integrity and work together as a team while exploring innovative solutions and continuously improving its existing processes.

OSI can perform extensive research and development (R&D) at its own facilities to bring meals and menus to life. It can customize food solutions to the customer’s exact specifications based on its global knowledge of flavors and culinary techniques. OSI also has efficient, trustworthy supply chains that allow it to maintain its commitment to sustainability. Furthermore, OSI’s practices in food safety and quality are unsurpassed.

    Commitments

Food safety is one area where OSI is unwilling to compromise. It sets high expectations for itself and its suppliers. Within its processing plants, OSI applies Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) systems, which represent a preventative approach to food safety. OSI also maintains Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) or other globally recognized certifications at its production locations, helping to ensure the safety and quality of its products.

OSI conducts many audits at its facilities, including its own audits and those conducted by customers and third parties. The purpose of these audits is to ensure the company’s commitment to various policies and regulations, such as the following:

    • North America Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Statement
    • European Environmental Policy
    • California Supply Chains Act
    • Human Rights Policy
    • Animal Welfare Policy

    EMAS

OSI has implemented a social and environmental program in Europe, the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS). The European Commission developed this set of processes and practices in 1993. The program has some of the world’s highest standards for external auditing. It increases the transparency of the auditing process and requires employees to remain creatively engaged in achieving OSI’s environmental objectives. A number of OSI plants in the following countries have been registered as EMAS certified enterprises:

    • Austria
    • Germany
    • Poland
    • Spain
    • UK

    About OSI Group

Otto Kolschowsky founded a meat market and butcher shop in the Chicago area in 1909. After his sons joined the business in 1928, he named it Otto & Sons. The company would become the first supplier of ground beef for McDonald’s in 1955 and open its first plant dedicated solely to McDonald’s in 1973. Otto & Sons was renamed OSI Industries in 1975, after which it began expanding in Europe, and later on became known as OSI Group. It also expanded into Latin America in 1982 and Taiwan in 1987, when it first established its Asia-Pacific zone. The joint venture GenOSI marked the beginning of OSI’s presence in the Philippines in 1990. As that decade proceeded, the company expanded to China, India and Australia.

OSI has also merged with and acquired other food companies in recent years. These include the acquisition of Flagship Europe in 2016, which was renamed Creative Foods Europe two years later. It also merged with Turi Foods Pty Ltd. in 2018, resulting in the creation of Turosi Pty Ltd., to further expand OSI’s footprint in Australia. In 2019, OSI acquired Rose Packing Company and also created a partnership with Impossible Foods to co-manufacture plant-based protein products.

Customers that partner with OSI can expect its experienced chefs to develop food solutions based on ideas from around the world. OSI also has process teams with the expertise needed to drive improvements in cost and processes, while commercializing these solutions efficiently. In addition, OSI has the global presence and logistical capability to meet the needs of large customers for product ideas and solutions. OSI can also formulate exclusive products for a customer’s unique distribution system while protecting the brand with its global supply chains and excellent control mechanisms.
