    Publisher’s Note

The use of e-signatures and e-IDs in cross-border and secure electronic transactions are in for a boost in Europe. The Commission this week proposed a Regulation to enable people and businesses to use national electronic ID schemes (e-IDs) to access public services in other EU countries.

The proposal potentially creates an internal market for e-Signatures. Its major benefit, however, would be the savings accrued from eProcurement. “Make the most of your e-ID” says the Commission. Creating a genuine European digital market will certainly do this.
