    Free movement in the EU is a misunderstood right, according to a study from the Jacques Delors Institute. Images of Polish plumbers and social tourism are deeply rooted in the public imagination, but not always in reality.

    This key EU right is not without conditions or limits, says the study. There can be no discrimination as regards access to work. But there are exceptions for some public sector employment; equal treatment with regard to benefits is not guaranteed; and a citizen must not become an unreasonable burden for the host state. A much-needed dose of reality.
