    Strong words for China’s trade practices from AEGIS Europe this week, accusing it of systemically weakening sectors with a view to engaging in strategic takeovers of foreign interests. With its ‘strict diet of state subsidies for manufacturing, financing overcapacities, distorting prices and encouraging dumping of exports’, China is not a market economy, said AEGIS spokesperson Milan Nitzschke.

    The EU must insist on reciprocity and compliance with international trade rules, he warns, otherwise the resulting double standards will increase job losses and further unnecessarily weaken European manufacturing – the backbone of the European economy.
